A second effort always has its trials. Many steps in the process are smoothed over by the polish of experience while some steps that should have been easy cause one to falter in the discovery that though a particular strategy worked the first time, it doesn’t always on the second.
Work on The Elf and the Arrow has had its share of both. Luckily the cover design sat squarely in the positive. With each draft and suggestion, Isis Sousa deftly brought another character straight off the pages and into surprising clarity, artistry, and if I do say so myself, a kind of ominous beauty. So, instead of writing more about it, I think I’d just rather show you. Oh, and to tell you one more thing.
